Dr. Shashikiran NJ graduated M. Ch from the top medical institution in India, AIIMS, and obtained special training in Video-assisted Thoracic surgery (VATS), General and advanced Gastrointestinal procedures both Laparoscopic and Robotic surgery. He is passionate about developing a Thoracic surgical and Gastrointestinal team and providing world-class health care.

He specializes in surgery of the lungs, pleura, esophagus, chest wall, mediastinum, and diaphragm. Specific areas of expertise include Lung tuberculosis and its various presentations like Pleural effusion(Fluid accumulation around lungs-both benign and cancer related)/Empyema(Pus around lungs)/hydropneumothorax/Lung cavities(with or without aspergillosis/white fungus) and recurrent haemoptysis (Bronchiectasis etc),Lung Mucor mycosis(Black fungus), lung cancer esophageal cancer, thymus tumors/mediastinal tumors, hyperhidrosis(Excess sweating over palms and foot), recurrent pneumothorax(need for repeated chest tube placement) and diaphragmatic disorders like diaphragmatic hernias and eventration(elevated diaphragm).
